Double-Sided Customizable Outdoor Pole Banners

Most pole banner orders come from someone on a city council, a downtown association, or a school who got handed a project and a deadline. This page is written for that person.

Pick your size from the bracket, not the banner

The most common mistake is ordering a size that does not match the hardware already on the pole. Measure the distance between the top and bottom arms of your existing bracket first. That measurement is your banner height. Brackets 36 inches apart means a 36 inch tall banner, so 18x36 or 24x36. If you are buying brackets at the same time, 30x60 is standard for wide main street poles and 18x36 is standard for parking lot and campus poles.

Why 18oz, and why sewn pockets

A pole banner lives a harder life than anything else we print. It sits 20 feet up with wind loading on both faces and nothing to absorb the shock but the pockets. We print on 18oz scrim vinyl, heavier than the 13oz used for fence and building banners, and we sew the 1 inch pole pockets top and bottom instead of heat-welding them. If a banner fails, it fails at the pocket seam. A sewn seam holds where a welded one splits.

Double sided is standard here, not an upgrade. Traffic passes a pole from both directions and a single-sided banner is invisible half the time.

What cities and schools actually put on these

• Hometown hero and veteran tribute banners, usually a photo plus name, rank, and branch, ordered as a numbered set
• Seasonal downtown decor rotated three or four times a year
• Homecoming, graduation, and senior athlete banners
• Festival, farmers market, and event promotion

Veteran banner programs are the most common order we see. If you are running one, send us the roster and photos and we will number and pack them in install order so your public works crew is not sorting on a lift.

Artwork and lead time

Email your print ready file to orders@thesignroom.us with your order number. PDF, EPS, or JPG. Build the art at full size with the top and bottom 2 inches kept clear of text, because that area disappears into the pole pocket. Free design help if your file is not there yet, and proofs on request.

Production is 2 to 3 business days in our Bettendorf, Iowa shop. Nothing is outsourced. Orders in before 5 PM CST ship the next business day, after 5 PM CST ship in 2. Ships UPS Ground.

Custom banners are made to order and cannot be refunded once printed as ordered.
